Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin

About

This state-of-the-art museum is devoted to modern and contemporary art. The exhibition space is on the ground floor of the Berlin branch of Deutsche Bank. The Guggenheim Foundation presents several exhibitions at this site annually and also displays newly commissioned works created specifically for this space by world-renowned artists.

In the old and new center of Berlin the German Guggenheim, a singular joint venture lies between the German bank and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation under the lime trees.

Concept

Since November 1997 here hochkarätige exhibitions are pointed and to the area referred spreading units (archives). The exhibition program as well as the daily enterprise are organized within joint responsibility of both institutions. A various master program as well as an exclusive edition accompany everyone look.

Area

The exhibition hall German Guggenheim is in the ground floor 1920 built sandstone building of the German bank. After drafts of the American architect Richard Gluckman there a 510 square meters large, clearly structured gallery developed. It stands in the tradition of further renowned museum buildings Gluckmans like the dia.

Carrier

The 1937 created Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is based on the private collection of Solomon R. Guggenheim with its focus on “not more gegenständlicher” art. Today it re-clamps a world-wide network of museums and cultural partnerships. Beside the spectacular franc Lloyd WRIGHT building in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice developed exhibition houses among other things in Bilbao, Berlin and read Vegas.

Since its establishment Deutsche Bank their cultural commitment understands 1870 as part of the business and social responsibility. Under the slogan “art on the job” developed as part of this commitment starting from 1979 the world-wide largest enterprise collection, which covers today more than 50,000 works of art. The collection emphasis is on contemporary work on paper.

Apart from the presentation of this row organize Deutsche Bank exhibition to different topics, which present and in co-operation with international museums are realized a cross section at the same time by the collection.
