Airports in Rome

Whether you want to get to Rome or you want to leave Rome there are two airports that are serving air traffic and air passengers for both purposes. Fiumicino is the major and main airport in Rome that is playing important role in connecting the Rome with the rest of the world. It is connected with the main train network of Rome and providing easy access to and from the main city of Rome. Ciampino is the second airport in Rome. It is smaller than Fiumicino and mostly used by budget airlines and chartered flights.

Moving Around Rome

The historic center of Rome is the main area to visit. The majority of significant destinations can be explored by strolling around.

Buses in Rome

There is an extensive and wide network of buses in Rome that works punctually. If you are a short term visitors then metro is the best choice for you to move around Rome. You can get public transport tickets from tabacchism bars, newsstands, or vending machines that are installed at metro and other major bus stops. Following bus systems are used in Rome:

Metro

It runs with two lines within the city of Rome. These two lines are identified as A and B, A denotes by Red color while B by blue color.

Night buses

There are more than 20 lines for night buses, these buses usually run from 00:30 am to 5:30 am. These buses run in all directions so take a map to get on the right night bus.

Electric Buses

Electric buses specially remain in circulation to reduce the rush in the historic center of Rome. There are various dedicated lines for these kinds of buses.

Taxi

There are two taxis in Rome and both are official metered. One is of white color while other is yellow. Be aware of tourist trap while hiring any taxi for you. Don’t travel in arranged fare taxi and insist to travel according to meter.

Rent a Bike or Moped

You can rent a bike or scooter for your self. Make sure that you are renting from a reliable rental service provider because there is a huge array of tourist trappers in Rome. Though you can visit all the popular tourist destinations by walking and by public transportation modes, but renting a two wheel transport will give you freedom of moving around Rome. Driving by your self in Rome is not recommended so try to avoid any kind of rental vehicle service.

Rent a Car

There is no need to rent a car in Rome if you are alone because all destinations can be explored by public transport. The historic centre of Rome remains over loaded with a huge traffic of visitors so it’s better not to drive by your self in a strange and new place.
